Your Ewing Guide

Ewing at a Glance

Established in 1834, Ewing Township is right in the heart of the Garden State. It’s part of both Mercer County and the much-debated (but very real!) area known as Central Jersey. Located just north of the capital city of Trenton, Ewing sits on the Delaware River, not far from the spot of George Washington’s famous crossing. It’s also conveniently about an hour away from New York City and Philadelphia.

The College of New Jersey (then known as the New Jersey State Teachers College and State Normal School at Trenton) relocated from Trenton to suburban Ewing in the mid-1930s as part of an academic and physical expansion. Today, the headquarters for both the New Jersey State Police and the New Jersey Department of Transportation call Ewing home, as do major businesses and employers ranging from Church & Dwight to Educational Testing Services to New Jersey Manufacturers. The township’s main commercial and retail area is on Olden Avenue.
