Welcome Week

A long-standing TCNJ tradition, Welcome Week is the culminating event of your transition to the College. Comprised of 100+ mandatory and optional events, this five-day program for ALL new students (first-years and transfers) will allow you to create memories that will truly last a lifetime. This year’s dates are Thursday, August 24 – Monday, August 28.

The Welcome Week 2023 event is now live in the TCNJ Roar App! You can find it by hitting the second icon from the left on the bottom and search under “Student Life”. This is a “Welcome Week Fall 2023” tile now visible.

Please Note: Any updates or changes we need to make will only be made in the app, so we recommend all students download it so they have the latest!

Kick-Off Meeting Information

  • Residential First-Year Students: Your “Welcome to Welcome Week” kick-off meeting with your residence hall floor will start at 2:30p on Thursday, August 24. Your Orientation Leaders will meet you on your floor to review the schedule and answer any questions you have. Please make sure to arrive back on campus during the time window assigned to you by the Office of Residential Education & Housing.
  • Commuter First-Year Students: Your “Welcome to Welcome Week” kick-off meeting will start at 7:00p on Thursday, August 24 in Brower Student Center 225. Your Orientation Leaders will review the schedule and make sure you are included in the ever important Welcome Week GroupMe so you can stay connected throughout the program. We will also host a pizza dinner (for commuting students only) from 6:00-7:00p before the kick-off meeting (also in Brower Student Center 225).
  • Residential Transfer Students: Your “Welcome to Welcome Week” kick-off meeting will start at 7:00p on Thursday, August 24 in Brower Student Center 225. Your Griffins will review the schedule and make sure you are included in the ever important Welcome Week GroupMe so you can stay connected throughout the program. Please remember to grab dinner in Eickhoff Hall beforehand!
  • Commuter Transfer Students: Your “Welcome to Welcome Week” kick-off meeting will start at 7:00p on Thursday, August 24 in Brower Student Center 225. Your Griffins will review the schedule and make sure you are included in the ever important Welcome Week GroupMe so you can stay connected throughout the program. We will also host a pizza dinner (for commuting students only) from 6:00-7:00p before the kick-off meeting (also in Brower Student Center 225).

Mandatory Sessions

Academic Welcome Day (Monday, August 28)

  • All new students (first-years and transfers) will participate in Convocation and a formal introduction to their academic school and department (separate Dean and Department Welcomes). This portion of Academic Welcome Day will run from 8:00a-1:30p.
  • Incoming first-year students are also required to attend a keynote session with the author of the summer reading book and a small group discussion. This portion of the day will run from 2:00-4:30p.

Additional Mandatory Sessions

In addition to Academic Welcome Day, all new students are required to attend mandatory sessions during the following times:

  • Friday, August 25 (9:30-11:00a or 11:30a-1:00p; assigned time TBA)
  • Friday, August 25 (1:30-2:30p or 3:00-4:00p; assigned time TBA)
  • Saturday, August 26 (9:30-10:30a or 11:00a-12:00p; assigned time TBA)
  • Saturday, August 26 (2:00-3:15p; First-Year Students Only)

We will be live streaming the mandatory sessions to support commuters and students who cannot attend in person.
